Clean Cities to Highlight Nationwide Alternative Fuel Projects
INDIANAPOLIS – During the 2012 NTEA Green Truck Summit/Work Truck Show this week, the U.S. Department of Energy's Clean Cities program will host a poster session to highlight alternative fuel and related technology deployment projects from across the country.
INDIANAPOLIS – Greater Indiana Clean Cities is hosting more than 20 Clean Cities Coalitions from across the country at the 2012 NTEA Green Truck Summit/Work Truck Show this week. During the conference, the U.S. Department of Energy's Clean Cities program will host a poster session to highlight alternative fuel and related technology deployment projects from across the country.
"The goal of this poster session is to show fleet managers real-world examples of successful petroleum-reduction projects, inspire them to explore options with their local coordinator and know that Clean Cities is here to help," said Sandra Loi of the Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
Clean Cities coordinators will be available to discuss highlighted coalition projects with attendees on March 7 from 3-5 p.m. in rooms 103-104 on level one of the Indiana Convention Center.
"Greater Indiana Clean Cities is thrilled to be the host coalition for this year's Green Truck Summit/Work Truck Show." said Kellie Walsh, executive director. "The alternative vehicle conversation in Indiana continues to spread as more and more of our public and private sector fleets realize the benefits of switching to alternative fuels and technologies, for the economic and environmental benefits."
The Greater Indiana Clean Cities Coalition (GICC) works with local fleet owners and operators to guide them through alternative fuel and technology options that make sense for their fleet. Throughout the year, Greater Indiana hosts training and information sessions relative to transportation opportunities and options that can improve a fleet's performance and reduce our nation's dependence on foreign oil.
Designated as a Clean Cities Coalition in 1999, GICC serves two-thirds of Indiana, guiding fleets in their deployment of alternative fuels and related technologies. To date, more than $22,000,000 in federal and state grants has been awarded for GICC member's projects.
Greater Indiana Clean Cities is one of nearly 100 Clean Cities coalitions across the country that bring together local stakeholders in the public and private sectors to deploy alternative and renewable fuels, idle-reduction measures, fuel economy improvements, and emerging transportation technologies.
