Canada Broadens Vehicle List Qualifying for Green Rebates

TORONTO, Canada --- Canadian fleet managers wishing to purchase new vehicles that qualify for the Canadian government's green rebate program now have more options.

TORONTO, Canada - Canadian fleet managers wishing to purchase new vehicles that qualify for the Canadian government's green rebate program now have more options. Thirty-two vehicles from the 2008 model-year now qualify, compared to 21 the previous model year. The rebate program also includes vehicles from the 2006 and 2007 model years. Some 2008 models, including the Saturn VUE and Highlander Hybrid, offer a higher rebate for the 2008 model year, compared to the 2007 model year. The vehicles must be purchased in Canada. The qualifying vehicles are as follows:

Toyota Prius Rebate: $2,000 1.5 L, 4 cylinder Continuously Variable Transmission CFCR = 4.1 L/100 km

Honda Civic Hybrid Rebate: $2,000 1.3 L, 4 cylinder Continuously Variable Transmission CFCR = 4.5 L/100 km

Smart ForTwo (Coupe) Rebate: $2,000 1.0 L, 3 cylinder 5-Speed Automatic with Manual Mode CFCR = 5.4 L/100 km

Smart ForTwo (Convertible) Rebate: $2,000 1.0 L, 3 cylinder 5-Speed Automatic with Manual Mode CFCR = 5.4 L/100 km

Ford Escape Hybrid FWD Rebate: $2,000 2.3 L, 4 cylinder Continuously Variable Transmission CFCR = 6.1 L/100 km

Ford Escape Hybrid AWD Rebate: $2,000 2.3 L, 4 cylinder Continuously Variable Transmission CFCR = 7.0 L/100 km
