Brazil's CAOA Founder Carlos Andrade Dies
Brazilian auto industry conglomerate announced the death of its founder Dr. Carolos Alberto de Oliveire Andrade. CAOA Chairman of the Board passed away August 14 at age 77 in Paraíba, Brazil.

Brazilian auto industry conglomerate announced the death of its founder Dr. Carolos Alberto de Oliveire Andrade. CAOA Chairman of the Board passed away August 14 at age 77 in Paraíba, Brazil.
“Most loving husband, selfless father, sincere friend, generous boss and respected businessman, Dr. Carlos leaves a huge void in our minds and hearts. See you soon, Doctor. His presence will never leave us and our eternal remembrance will never leave him alone,” said a company statement.
Born November 25, 1943 in Paraíba, Brazil, Andrade was a physician and businessman. He founded CAOA in 1979 after receiving a bankrupt Ford dealership in Campina Grande, Brazil, as payment for an undelivered a Ford Landau. In less than six years, CAOA became the largest Ford dealership in Brazil. Today CAOA is a leading importing, product development, manufacturing, dealership and retail conglomerate in the South American auto industry.
Andrade stepped down as president of CAOA in 2017, succeeded by Mauro Correia. Andrade, however, remained company chairman of the board. In 2018, he was named Executive of the Year by Auto Esporte.
Andrade is survived by his wife and four children.
