WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Last year, the National Biodiesel Board spent about $1.2 million to lobby Congress on biodiesel fuel issues and legislation.
A disclosure form posted online by the Senate's public records office revealed that the trade group spent $602,074 in the second half of 2007 to lobby Congress about legislation tied to bioenergy, farm and education programs. The National Biodiesel Board spent $633,302 during the first six months of 2007 on similar issues, the AP reported.
The board is the trade association representing the U.S. biodiesel energy industry.
Since 1995, federal law requires that lobbyists disclose activities that could influence members of the executive and legislative branches.
