The Australian federal government has announced it will be investing upwards of AUS$2 million in investigating the future transport needs of South Australia, an initiative which has earned the support of the Royal Automobile Association (RAA).

The forthcoming integrated transport and movement study is set to provide a 'transport blueprint' for the state that will help ensure the future needs of motorists in South Australia continue to be met.

Federal minister for infrastructure and transport Anthony Albanese said that undertaking this study and implementing the recommendations that result will help Adelaide maintain its status as one of the most liveable cities in the world, according to a report posted by Smartfleet, an Australian-based fleet management company.

The news will be encouraging to any fleet manager operating out of South Australia, as it suggests that further improvements to the road infrastructure of the state will be forthcoming, according to Smartfleet.

One of the issues set to be addressed in the report includes the finalization of South Road, and the options surrounding the future of this key South Australian arterial highway.

More than 85 percent of RAA members agree that South Australia should have some sort of transport plan in place, while less than 2 percent were opposed to investing in such an initiative.
