Sales of commercial vehicles, and heavy-commercial vehicles, in Australia were up in May compared to the previous month, though the percentages are down when compared to the same time last year.

While there were roughly 3,500 more commercial sales and 613 more heavy-commercial vehicles sales when compared to the previous month, sales were down 3% and 6.6% from the same time last year, respectively, according to the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI).

The top bestselling automaker for the last two months was Toyota, which held 20% share for the market both times. This was followed by Mazda in second place and Hyundai at No. 3.

The percentage of new vehicle sales for both commercial vehicles segments were also down year-to-date when compared to the same period last year. Commercial vehicles were down 2.8% on the year, while heavy-commercial vehicles were down 4.6%. Passenger cars and SUV sales were also down 15.9% and 4.6%, respectively.
