Audi will offer its Q7 luxury SUV with a diesel-electric powertrain in the U.S. and Europe in 2015, reports Automotive News.
The luxury SUV will be the second vehicle to come equipped with diesel-electric technology. Volvo was the first to introduce a vehicle with a plug-in hybrid diesel engine.

Although Audi wasn't the trail blazer in this segment, it still beat Mercedes-Benz and BMW to the punch line.
The report also mentioned that this technology will be availble in the A8 model, but the automaker didn't specify whether this offering would come to the Q7 or A8 first.
