Audi Expands Traffic-Light-Sensing Tech
Audi of America has expanded its Traffic Light Information to Phoenix and areas of Kansas City, Kansas, to bring its connected communication capability to 10 U.S. cities and 2,250 intersections now activated around the country.

Audi of America has expanded its Traffic Light Information (TLI) to Phoenix and areas of Kansas City, Kansas, to bring its connected communication capability to 10 U.S. cities and 2,250 intersections now activated around the country.
Audi models equipped with the feature receive real-time signal information from the traffic management system that monitors traffic lights via an on-board 4G LTE data connection. During red lights, the TLI feature displays the number of seconds remaining before the signal will switch to green.
The feature is included with Audi's Connect Prime package that's available on select 2017 and 2018 models.
Audi launched the connected-infrastructure project in Las Vegas in 2016. It's now operating in select cities across seven states and the District of Columbia. Other enabled cities include Arcadia and Palo Alto in California, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Palo Alto, and Portland, Ore.
Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I) technologies are designed to reduce congestion, enhance mobility and alleviate driver stress. The automaker envisions future forms of V2I technology to include integration with the car's start/stop function, Green Light Optimized Speed Advisory (GLOSA), optimized navigation routing, and other predictive services.
