CLIFFWOOD BEACH, NJ - Air & Gas Technologies (AGT) has contracted with Enviro Express Natural Gas, LLC (Enviro) for the construction and installation of a liquid/compressed natural gas (LNG/CNG) fueling station on its property in Bridgeport, Conn.
This will be the first station of its kind east of the Mississippi River, according to the AGT.
Through the "Connecticut Clean Cities Future Fuels Project," Enviro partnered with the Greater New Haven Clean Cities Coalition, Inc., in association with Clean Cities of Southwestern Connecticut, to receive a U.S. Department of Energy Clean Cities Award. The award is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
With this assistance, Enviro will purchase 18 new heavy-duty Kenworth LNG tractors as replacement for a majority of its existing diesel fleet. Additionally, Air & Gas Technologies, in conjunction with NorthStar LNG, of Evanston, Wyo., will construct a state of the art on-site fueling station to dispense LNG to Enviro's fleet of tractors, and dispense CNG for public access. Through the project, Enviro will also fuel four heavy-duty dump trucks which the City of Bridgeport will re-power with CNG engines with assistance from the same award.
Replacing each Enviro diesel vehicle will displace an estimated 28,571 gallons of petroleum, reduced harmful particulate emissions by 38,000 lbs., and increase individual tractor payload by 1,000 lbs. annually, according to the company.
The station is scheduled to be completed mid-October.
