Ashok Leyland and Tata Motors, two Indian military vehicle manufacturers, delivered nearly 1,200 vehicles to African forces between February and July, according to Defense News. The African defense market is expected to become a $20 billion market by 2020.
In July, Ashok Leyland supplied 633 vehicles consisting of troop carriers, buses, transport trucks, water tankers, fuel tankers, fire-tenders, ambulances, and light commercial vehicles to the Zimbabwe Defense Force for $50 million. The vehicles will be used by government departments, like the Army and police, as well as by the country’s Ministry of Hospitality and Tourism.
