2019 Acura RDX Earns Top Safety Pick+ — The 2019 Acura RDX has earned the IIHS Top Safety Pick+.

After passing five crashworthiness tests with flying colors, the redesigned 2019 Acura RDX was awarded a Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

The midsize luxury SUV earned good ratings in the driver-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests. In addition, the car captured a superior rating for standard front crash prevention and also offers good-rated headlights. Finally, the new RDX garnered a good rating in the passenger-side small overlap test.

These factors together add up to a Top Safety Pick+ designation — the highest award that IIHS bestows on a vehicle.

According to IIHS, the SUV's standard front crash prevention system avoided collisions in IIHS track tests at 12 and 25 mph. The system also includes a forward collision-warning component that meets National Highway Traffic Safety Administration criteria.

IIHS also notes that while the RDX's base headlights are rated good, the curve-adaptive headlights that come with the Advance trim are rated acceptable.
