2018 Toyota C-HR Garners Good Safety Rating
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the 2018 Toyota C-HR good ratings across the board, after a solid performance in six rigorous crashworthiness tests.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the 2018 Toyota C-HR good ratings across the board, after a solid performance in six rigorous crashworthiness tests.
Specifically, the new small SUV captured good ratings in the driver- and passenger-side small overlap tests. The C-HR also earned good ratings in the moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests.
The model comes with standard superior-rated front crash prevention, and garnered a perfect score for its front crash prevention system.
Only a poor headlight rating kept the new small SUV from earning a Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ award, notes the IIHS.
The C-HR's halogen headlights provide inadequate visibility on curves while the low beams produce excessive glare. Unfortunately, the model's standard high-beam assist, which automatically switches between high beams and low beams depending on the presence of other vehicles, doesn't compensate for the problem.
According to the IIHS, if the automaker offers improved headlights that earn an acceptable or good rating, the new Toyota model could move up to Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ status.
