Ryan, Hubert

In leasing lore, Hubert Ryan and the Hertz Corp. are inextricably intertwined. In 1934, he ventured into the vehicle leasing business as an office boy with a truck leasing company called Metropolitan Distributors. In 1955, he joined Hertz when they bought Robinson Auto Rental, a Philadelphia car leasing company. The operation was then moved to Chicago where Ryan began nearly two decades as vice president and general manager of the Hertz Car Leasing Division.
