Three fleet driver safety organizations joined forces in October 2016 to create The Global SafeDrive Alliance, whose mission is to provide the first single-source global fleet safety program, including reporting and certification.

Comprised of The CEI Group, (U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico), CEPA SafeDrive (Latin and Central America), and VVCR (Europe, Middle East, and Asia-Pacific), the members of the Alliance operate on six continents and offer support in more than 35 languages.

“The Alliance represents the first time that multinational companies can come to one provider to manage their entire global fleet from a single platform,” said Wayne Smolda, The CEI Group’s president and CEO.

The Alliance is designed to help global fleets who have had to find and manage multiple vendors in different countries and for specific tasks. It handles components that make up a fleet safety program, including driver risk assessment, functional and behavioral training, and global program data management.

The Global SafeDrive Alliance delivers single-source accountability — one contract, one web portal for top-level reports, and the industry’s only global safety certification program.
“For the first time, global fleets will be able to verify that their operation has adopted safety ‘best practices’ around the world with our alliance’s Global Fleet Safety Certification program, which reflects the total experience of all three safety program leaders over a cumulative 116 years,” said Fernando Cammarota, founder of CEPA Safety.

Goals of the Alliance

There are three main components of The Global SafeDrive Alliance solution process:

  1. Consultation and assessment that helps companies create a comprehensive safety policy that can adapt to fit each country’s unique cultural, regulatory, and legal landscape. This aspect is essential for driving behavior assessments and risk profiles.

  2. The ability for customers to implement country-specific programs for proactive and remedial driver coaching and training.

  3. Monitor driver behavior based on accidents, training, analytics, telematics, risk assessment, and licensing and traffic violation databases (where available).

These metrics serve as the foundation for global reports that integrate disparate data from different locations, according to the Alliance.

“The Global SafeDrive Alliance presents the first opportunity for global fleets to implement a consistent, behavioral-based and scientifically-proven driver safety program across the world with a think global, act local approach,” emphasized Patrick Hekkert, CEO of VVCR.

The Platform’s Abilities

Available global reports include accident rates, injuries, accident types, preventable versus non-preventable accidents, driver compliance rates, and customized benchmarking criteria. The Alliance delivers a consultative approach that considers each customer’s specific corporate and in-country cultural, security, and privacy requirements.

Depending on the customer’s location or preference, an Alliance lead partner provides the global data platform. The customer’s global or in-country management personnel have access to pertinent levels of data.
