WASHINGTON, DC - With electronic billboards becoming more sophisticated and eye-catching, their potential to distract drivers is a growing safety concern.
As a result, the Federal Highway Administration plans to commission a new study this fall to assess whether moving video billboards cause more accidents, reported the Baltimore Sun. Electronic message centers (EMCs) are increasingly popular because advertisers can easily change the billboard's message and graphics. But critics have argued that they create a safety hazard.
