TRENTON, N.J. --- New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine has opted not to push his plan to allow self-service at some gasoline stations along the New Jersey Turnpike, USA Today reported. Motorists in the state haven't pumped their own gas in 57 years. Corzine last month announced plans to change that in hopes of saving consumers 5 to 7 cents a gallon. However, after receiving about 1,400 e-mails and calls protesting the plan, the governor decided to drop the matter --- at least for now. Oregon is the only other state that bans self-service gas stations.
