John Dmochowsky, CAFM, MBA, senior global fleet manager for Mondelēz International, Inc. will retire on April 1, 2020, culminating a 36-year career with the company and Kraft Food Group, from which Mondelēz was spun off in October 2012.

During his almost four-decade career, Dmochowsky served 19 years in fleet management at both Kraft and Mondelēz. Prior to this, Dmochowsky worked for 17 years in food sales at Kraft.

Dmochowsky was Mondelēz International’s first-ever fleet manager. He managed a fleet of 10,100 vehicles and was responsible for creating a world-class multinational fleet in just four years after the newly formed Mondelēz International spun off from Kraft.

Among Dmochowsky’s career highlights was taking home the 2019 European Safety Fleet Manager of the Year Award at the Fleet Europe Summit in Estoril, Portugal, and where he was also named a runner-up in the 2019 Global Fleet Manager of the Year category. This was the first time an American fleet manager won an award at the Fleet Europe Summit.

Dmochowsky and his team were recognized for their contribution to significant cost-saving initiatives, resulting from a noteworthy change in the global fleet selection process, together with fleet policy harmonization. From 2015 to 2016, there was a 21% reduction in global fleet spend, continuing until today with a total 7% reduction in the total cost of ownership between 2016 and 2019.

Recognized for his subject-matter expertise, Dmochowsky participated as a guest speaker at Global Fleet Conferences in Brussels, Rome, and Miami, which are co-produced by Bobit Business Media and Nexus Communication. He also was a guest speaker at the Nexus LatAm Conference held in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

In 2017, Dmochowsky was named Automotive Fleet’s 2017 Fleet Manager of the Year. In 2019, he was nominated for the Fleet Hall of Fame created by Automotive Fleet magazine that is exclusively sponsored by the Automotive Fleet & Leasing Association (AFLA).

During his career in fleet, Dmochowsky has been active in industry associations, in particular, AFLA and the NAFA Fleet Management Association. Dmochowsky served on the AFLA Board of Directors and ultimately became AFLA president from 2013 to 2014.

Since 2011, Dmochowsky has been a Fleet Management Seminar instructor for the NAFA Fleet Management Association. He has also participated on client advisory boards for Element Fleet Management, LeasePlan USA, Chrysler, Ford Motor Company, and General Motors.

Following his retirement from Mondelez International, Dmochowsky plans to continue his speaking roles, along with taking on various projects and serving as a consultant for the fleet industry. “Over the past five years, my global journey has allowed me to gain valuable insights within the global landscape and has the expertise to share for those looking to set up a global fleet strategy,” said Dmochowsky.  He can be reached via e-mail at [email protected] or by phone at (847) 915-5085.
