Ford Ranger Recalled for HVAC Blower Motor

Ford Motor Co. is recalling an estimated 17,965 2019 Ford Ranger midsize pickups for an HVAC blower motor problem, Ford has announced.
Specifically, the HVAC blower motor may have been built with an improper clearance between an electrical terminal and the conductive base-plate slot that may result in a resistive electrical short.
With this scenario, there is an increased chance of the HVAC blower motor overheating, melting, smoking or causing a fire.
The recall covers vehicles that were built at Michigan Assembly Plant between Aug. 1 and Sept. 27, 2019.
To fix the problem, dealers will inspect the HVAC blower motor and replace it if it is within the suspect part production dates.
Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition. However, the automaker is aware of one customer warranty report of smoke while driving that is potentially related to this matter.
In addition, there were six reports of incidents that occurred in vehicles prior to delivery to the dealership. These vehicles were returned to Ford for further inspection and analysis.
