A Mexican insurance company is collaborating with a global telematics provider to help analyze the driving behavior of its commercial fleet and expand telematics capabilities in the Mexican market.

Octo Telematics partnered with auto insurance company, Qualitas, which has operations in Mexico, Latin America, and the U.S., to develop the telematics market in Mexico by leveraging its driving behavior analytics in the commercial lines space, according to the company. Octo will supply Qualitas with fleet telematics solutions as it expands its commercial offerings throughout Mexico with a new program, the company said. The program will include risk management and asset utilization by leveraging driver behavior data and Qualitas’ commercial fleet customers will be able to track vehicles at all times, offer customers logistics data, and improve driver safety and prevent accidents.

Qualitas established the partnership in part due to developing connectivity technolgies, and other major changes to the global automobile industry, including the opportunity to grow in the sector for automotive connected insurance systems.

Octo Telematics data is designed to allow Qualitas to improve efficiency and productivity of its customers’ fleets: reducing fuel consumption, limiting unauthorized asset utilization and improving driver safety, the company said. The Octo fleet management console provides vehicle and driver behavior data at the individual, fleet segment or holistic fleet level. The management console will allow fleet managers to locate vehicles, monitor performance and support drivers in real time with location, usage and vehicle health data.
