The 2017-model year Genesis G80 offers a host of standard advanced safety technology features, including automatic emergency braking, blind spot detection with rear cross-traffic alert, and lane keep assist/lane departure warning with haptic steering wheel.
Also included are high beam assist, a pre-active seat belt system, nine air bags, smart cruise control with stop/start capability, an electronic parking brake with automatic vehicle hold, and an eight-inch touchscreen navigation system with a rearview camera.
“Occupant safety is a key development priority for all Genesis vehicles, and the G80 is no exception with its full suite of standardized advanced safety technology,” said Erwin Raphael, general manager of Genesis in the U.S.
Additionally, the G80 offers an available parking assistance system with eight ultrasonic sensors located on the front and rear bumpers. An available carbon dioxide sensor control system, located under the glove box, helps ensure driver alertness.
The G80 is equipped with electronic stability control and energy-absorbing front seats. Standard LED daytime running lights improve vehicle visibility, and a tire pressure monitoring system provides individual tire pressure readouts.
The nine air bags include advanced dual front air bags, a driver’s knee air bag, front and outboard rear seat-mounted side-impact air bags, and roof-mounted side curtain air bags for both front and rear outboard seat occupants.
Hyundai created the new Genesis luxury division beginning with the 2017 model year. The Hyundai Genesis has been renamed the Genesis G80.
Since the 2017-MY Genesis G80 is built on the same platform as the Hyundai Genesis, the large luxury car inherits top-notch safety ratings based on earlier crash tests and evaluations of the 2015 Genesis. The Genesis G80, as a result, holds both a 2016 Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and a 5-Star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
