Hawaiian lawmakers have passed a law that ends the mandate requiring the blending of ethanol with gasoline in the state.
The state becomes the second in the nation to take the step, following calls from federal lawmakers, including U.S. Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Pat Toomey, to end the federal mandate. Florida ended its mandate in 2013, according to the Associated Press.
Feinstein and Toomey have introduced a bill that would repeal the corn ethanol mandate in the federal Renewable Fuel Standard.
