Isuzu Motor Ltd. plans to quadruple production of its diesel engine in the United States over the next four years and introduce two new engines for Isuzu and General Motors vehicles, according to Automotive News. In an interview with Automotive News, Isuzu President Yoshinori Ida said Isuzu will increase production at its DMAX Lt. Joint venture in Moraine, OH, from 100,000 units this year to 400,000 per year by 2005. Isuzu and GM jointly own DMAX. GM owns 49 percent of Isuzu. The two new diesel engines are a 3.0-liter-class direct-injection, four-cylinder and V-6 of unspecified displacement. The four-cylinder powerplant will be used in the Isuzu Rodeo and in an unspecified GM sport/utility vehicle, Ida told Automotive News.
