S&P Global Mobility will headline the 2026 Conference of Automotive Remarketing (CAR) with a keynote session revealing new, previously unavailable insights into how fleet vehicles move through the secondary market — and what those pathways mean for resale performance and residual value.

The keynote, “Beyond the Sale: Data-Driven Strategies to Maximize Remarketing Value for Fleet Managers,” will take place from 8:30–9:15 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, in Cleveland, Ohio. CAR 2026 is scheduled for April 15–16 and is co-located with the NAFA Institute & Expo.

Keynote Details

During the session, S&P Global Mobility will unveil never-before-released data that tracks fleet vehicles after de-fleeting, showing where they go, who buys them, and how buyer behavior and downstream movement influence remarketing outcomes. The analysis offers fleet managers and FMCs a clearer understanding of secondary market vehicle flows — patterns that have historically been opaque or inaccessible to fleets.

Attendees will gain data-backed insight into emerging trends in new and used fleet registrations, the makes and models most likely to re-enter fleet service, and the vehicle types and upfit configurations demonstrating sustained demand in today’s market.

By connecting buyer profiles with purchasing behavior and vehicle movement, the keynote will outline how fleets can better align remarketing timing, channels, and strategies with actual market demand

The session will conclude with a preview of S&P Global Mobility’s new secondary market dataset, including how the data is built, what makes it unique, and how fleets can apply it immediately to improve value realization at remarketing.

Keynote Presenters

The keynote will be presented by Mark Hazel, director of commercial vehicle market reporting at S&P Global Mobility, and moderated by Chris Brown, associate publisher of Automotive Fleet and conference chair.

About CAR

For over 30 years, the Conference of Automotive Remarketing (CAR) has led the remarketing industry by bringing diverse professionals together under one roof.  While past CAR events primarily gathered consignors and auction association members, CAR 2026 reconnects to the fleet operators themselves and their remarketing ecosystems.

The reborn CAR is designed to help fleets preserve and prove vehicle value at remarketing through data, technology, and strategic insight. The event brings together fleet managers, FMCs, auctions, and technology providers to explore how better intelligence and lifecycle decisions can improve resale outcomes and reduce total cost of ownership.

CAR 2026 will place a strong emphasis on emerging remarketing intelligence, including new secondary market data, EV battery health considerations, downfitting and reconditioning strategies, and the growing role of technology in validating vehicle condition and history.
