Over 33,000 Ram 1500 Trucks Recalled for Potential ESC Malfunction Linked to Damaged Part
Due to potentially damaged front wheel bearing encoder rings, the Electronic Stability Control system may become disabled, increasing the risk of a crash.

Chrysler has issued a recall of 33,777 Ram 1500 pickup trucks for a potential Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system malfunction due to damaged front wheel bearing encoder rings.
The recall includes certain 2025 Ram 1500 vehicles.
Reason for the Recall
The 2025 pickups may have been built with damaged front wheel bearing encoder rings, causing a loss of wheel speed signal (WSS), which may disable the Electronic Stability Control.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) was first notified of the potential issue in June 2024 and began investigating through October 2024, according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) documents.
Failure of the ESC system when intervention is expected and/or relied upon can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.
According to NHTSA documents, this recall is not related to a part defect but rather a part handling issue where the WSS encoder ring may have been damaged before assembly to the vehicle.
As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems."
How Is This Recall Being Remedied?
The suspect period began on October 13, 2023, when vehicles were first produced with an incorrect part handling process and ended on August 11, 2024, when vehicle production processes were corrected.
FCA will inspect and replace the front wheel bearing hub assembly, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on December 19, 2024.
