The Mercedes-Benz Metris will receive several updates for the 2021 model-year, including new vehicle monitoring capabilities for fleets, new advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and an improved infotainment setup.

The new Metris is equipped with a communication module through Mercedes PRO Connect that features increased awareness of vehicle efficiency, economy, and monitoring of the vehicle fleet for companies, according to Mercedes-Benz. A new active brake assist, which can detect the risk of a collision with a vehicle driving ahead, was also introduced for the 2021-MY, according to Mercedes-Benz. Additionally, active distance assist distronic is available on the Metris for the first time, which maintains the distance to the vehicle traveling ahead set by the driver. The Metris is also available with active parking assist, blind spot assist, and lane keeping assist.

The new infotainment systems on the Metris feature a seven-inch touchscreen with smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A new integrated navigation system is also available, and, in conjunction with Mercedes PRO connect can provide live traffic information for the vehicle, with information and displays in the navigation system.

The Metris’ Bluetooth interface has been improved for the 2021-MY with added hands-free functionality for distraction- free calling while driving and USB interfaces for charging mobile devices.

The Metris also features the Mercedes-Benz emergency call system and an available breakdown management function. Through the crash sensors, accidents can be registered immediately and rescue services can be automatically notified if the passengers do not react through an immediately established voice call, the automaker said.

A 2.0L turbocharged inline-four engine powers the Meris, producing 208 hp and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. A new 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission replaces a previous seven-speed transmission. The new nine-speed automatic transmission features Dynamic Select, allowing drivers to shift between different drive modes to change the behavior to their driving requirement depending on road conditions.
