FULLERTON, CA --- All four sizes of Yokohama Tire Corp.'s 103ZR commercial truck tires are now available, the tire maker said.
The 103ZR is part of Yokohama Tire's eco-friendly "Zenvironment" line, which offers truck tires designed to last longer and be more fuel efficient.
"The 103ZR earned one of Heavy Duty Trucking's 2008 Nifty Fifty awards, and was chosen for being a longer-lasting, fuel-efficient tire. We are pleased to announce that it is now at full production," said John Cooney, Yokohama director of commercial sales. "The Zenvironment line, which also includes the 703ZL and 501ZA, has been a great success, and we feel that the 103ZR will achieve the same result. It has the deepest tread depth and lowest rolling resistance of any regional, all-position tire I know of in the industry."
The 103ZR offers a compound tread design and casing construction that delivers longer treadwear and low rolling resistance, the company said.
"The casing innovations actually predict changes in tire shape that occur in early stages of wear," said Cooney. "The result is increased durability due to stabilized performance over the wear of the tire."
Other features of the 103ZR include rock-ejector platforms that keep stones and debris out of the grooves to enhance durability; superior fuel economy due to stronger and more pliable rubber that reduces heat generation and provides low rolling resistance; and a wide tread, partnered with a 23/32" tread depth, that promotes long, even wear, Yokohama said.
The four sizes of the 103ZR are:
295/75R22.5 --- 14 (G) and 16 (H) ply
11R22.5 --- 14 (G) and 16 (H) ply
285/75R24.5 --- 14(G) ply
11R24.5 --- 14 (G) and 16 (H) ply
