Wireless Charging Arrives for Tesla Model S
Evatran is offering Tesla Model S owners the chance to have their all-electric sedans the opportunity to charge without plugging in.
Tesla Model S owners will soon be able to charge their battery-electric sedans without needing to plug them in with the Evatran Plugless Power wireless charging system.
Pre-orders of Plugless Power's wireless inductive charging system for the Model S are being accepted, with the first units expected to ship in spring, according to the company.
The 7.2-watt wireless electirc charging system can be plugged into any dedicated 50-amp circuit near the vehicle. The system charges an electric vehicle's batteries across a 4-inch wireless transfer distance.
Charging times vary for each Model S vehicle and it offers roughly 20 miles of range per hour.
The pre-order includes a 45-day return period following the systems installation, and it has a $224 refundable deposit. The Plugless system is currently unavailable to the Tesla Roadster, Model X, or upcoming Model 3.
Plugless Power also provides wireless charging systems for the Nissan LEAF, Chevrolet Volt, and Cadillac ELR.
