DES PLAINES, IL – Representatives from Wheels, Inc., a leader in the multi-billion-dollar fleet leasing industry, participated in the fourth annual Puerto Rico Fleet Show and Expo, which was held Nov. 4 and 5 in San Juan.

The expo, provided as part of the “Flota al Dia” (Modern Fleet) convention hosted by La Asociación de Gerentes de Flota de Puerto Rico (The Association of Fleet Managers of Puerto Rico), is a major yearly gathering of fleet professionals from throughout the island.

“We are excited to have been given the opportunity to support the industry and our client base by attending such an important event,” said Mike Whelan, Wheels Manager of Canada and Puerto Rico. “There is a strong fleet presence on the island in general, and dozens of our clients have significant fleet interests there.  For example, Puerto Rico remains one of the world’s major pharmaceutical manufacturing hubs, and with our sizeable portfolio of pharmaceutical clients, we are definitely seeing a lot of activity there.”

Reportedly the only American fleet management company in attendance at the 2010 expo, Wheels’ interaction with attendees included distribution of a white paper, titled “Know Time,” that serves as a sourcing best practices guide for fleets throughout North America.  The company also showcased its Maintenance Assistance Program (MAP) and Fuel Management programs, which offer unique value to customers in Puerto Rico through industry-leading network coverage and access to data.

“Our maintenance and fuel networks are already among the most expansive on the island,” said Whelan.  “But the expo served as a forum to do some additional networking with existing and potential vendors to enhance customer service levels and data integrity.”

Wheels has been operating in Puerto Rico since 1955, and currently has over 3,000 vehicles under management on the island.  In addition to maintenance and fuel management, the company offers many services to its clients’ Puerto Rican fleets, including vehicle acquisition support, integrated online reporting, multi-lingual call centers, safety training and collision management.
