Wheels, Inc. discussed optimal strategies for fuel savings in a Web seminar it held for its clients. The seminar also provided information on the value chain of fuel by Scott Susich of the Energy Management Institute/ Advanced Energy Commerce, Inc. “Web seminars are an important tool for Wheels to deliver timely and relevant information to our clients,” said Bill Robinson, assistant vice president of marketing for Wheels. “With fuel prices consistently above $1.50 per gallon, fleets are faced with a significant budget challenge. The seminar served to inform clients about strategies for managing costs and provide them with evidence on what cost saving tactics are most effective.” Susich launched the seminar with a comprehensive explanation of the ground-to-pump fuel distribution process. He brought to light the differences in fuel that can be purchased at major fueling stations versus the fuel from ‘mom and pop’ stations. Robinson and John Bauer, senior analyst for Wheels, focused on each major cost-saving tactic using data to illustrate actual impact, and then offered recommendations for action in each instance.
