VANCOUVER, BC – The Westport WiNG, by Westport Innovations Inc., is a new sustainable power system for Ford pickups available through select Ford dealers in mid-March.
Westport Innovations Inc. plans to offer its new Westport WiNG Power System, a fully-integrated, CNG bi-fuel system for Ford F-250 and F-350 pick-up trucks through authorized Ford dealers later this month.
The Westport WiNG Power System, which has undergone the original OEM testing for safety and durability, is based on Ford’s new 6.2L hardened engine platform and has a starting price point of $9,750. On average, WiNG-powered Ford pickup trucks are expected to save fleets upwards of $2 per gallon in fuel costs, according to the press release. It is also expected to demonstrate payback in about two years or less.
The 2012 models with Westport WiNG bi-fuel systems will be EPA certified, and the 2013 models are anticipated to offer CARB certification for all models as well.
