WASHINGTON - Volvo Cars of North America is recalling 7,558 model-year 2012 S60 passenger cars because of a potential problem with the software controlling the fuel pump units.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the software for the fuel pump units may not be compatible with all fuel pumps and components, resulting in insufficient fuel transfer in the pump unit. Under certain driving conditions, this could lead to engine hesitation and possible engine stall -- even though the fuel gauge indicates up to one-quarter of a tank of fuel left. This poses a safety risk.
