Volkswagen of America Reports 13.7% Sales Increase

HERNDON, VA - Marking the automaker's fifth consecutive sales month above last year, Volkswagen of America, Inc. reported November 2009 sales of 16,250 total units.

HERNDON, VA - Volkswagen of America, Inc. reported November 2009 sales of 16,250 total units, representing a 13.7 percent increase over November 2008. November marks Volkswagen's fifth consecutive sales month above last year.

Volkswagen's stunning four door coupe, the CC, once again performed extremely well, and posted its best sales month ever with 3,187 units.

The Jetta, Volkswagen's top selling nameplate, posted strong November results with 7,957 units, a 23 percent increase over November 2008. Volkswagen's clean diesel TDI models continue to perform especially well and accounted for nearly 25 percent of the brands total sales. The Jetta, Jetta SportWagen, Golf and Touareg TDI's sold 3,667 total units in November.

"Our clean diesel TDI models continue to perform extremely well, signifying that today's consumers are looking for not only affordability, but they're also placing a much greater demand for extremely fuel efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles as well. Our current Sign-then-Drive promotion is proving to be highly successful in attracting new customers to our brand, especially to many of our newer products like our CC, Tiguan, and TDI models. With our brands full range of affordable, stylish, efficient and fun-to-drive vehicles we're confident that our brand is well poised for future success in this market." Barnes added.
