The nation's largest commuter van pool, vRide, has ordered 900 Chevrolet Traverse SUVs and 800 Chevrolet Express vans to add to its fleet of more than 6,500 vehicles.
vRide added the vehicles because of their ample interior space, passenger comfort, and capacity, according to Ann Fandozzi, vRide's CEO.
"Our mission is to help people save money and reduce stress caused by their daily commute, while also having a positive impact on our environment," Fandozzi said.
vRide typically leases its vehicles to private companies and government agencies for use in a van pool, so employees can leave their vehicles at home. The service is currently offered by the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, LinkedIn, Quest Diagnostics, the state of Vermont, Quicken Loans, the Aerospace Corp., and the Shelby County (Tenn.) Health Department.
"Our business relationship with vRide is very valuable and important, together we are focused on providing commuters with dependable vehicles that meet their needs," said Ed Peper, GM's U.S. vice president of fleet and commercial sales.
