Uber reached a settlement with the family of a woman who was killed after being struck by one of the ridesharing service's autonomous vehicles in Tempe, Ariz., reports Fortune.
A self-driving Uber car struck the woman while walking her bicycle across the street. A driver was behind the wheel of the vehicle, but footage of the crash revealed the driver looking down before the accident. The death is considered the first fatality from an autonomous vehicle.
