LIVONIA, Mich. --- Units of TRW Automotive Holdings Corp. are suing Japan's Takata Corp., alleging the infringement of six patents for vehicle air bags. TRW is a major manufacturer of auto safety equipment. TRW is seeking a jury trial and a court order to stop Takata's import and sale of the air bag products in the U.S., Bloomberg reported. The lawsuit was filed in Wilmington, Delaware.
The TRW patents at issue cover air bags with adhesive seams and vents.
The suit states: "The TRW Cos. have invested substantial time and money in designing, developing, manufacturing and producing safety restraint systems." The suit seeks monetary damages for Takata's alleged patent infringement.
