Toyota Recalls Prius for Parking Brake
The recall covers about 92,000 of the hybrid cars in the 2016 and 2017 model years.

Toyota Motor North America is recalling approximately 92,000 2016- and 2017-model year Toyota Prius cars because their parking brakes might become inoperative, the automaker said.
“If this occurs and the driver exits the vehicle with the transmission in a gear other than ‘Park’ while the ignition is on, the vehicle could roll away, increasing the risk of a crash,” Toyota warned in a released statement about the recall.
Toyota dealers will add clips on the top of the brake cable dust boots to prevent the cable from becoming inoperative. There will be no charge for this service, Toyota said.
Vehicle owners will be notified of the recall by mail, starting in November. By clicking here, fleet managers can search by VIN to learn whether any of their vehicles are involved.
