Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. is recalling approximately 16,880 Avalon and 41,630 Camry sedans in the 2016 model year, so dealers can address a potential problem with the occupant classification system for the front-passenger air bags.
In these vehicles, the front passenger seat is equipped with an occupant classification system (OCS) that activates or deactivates the front-passenger air bag system, depending on the weight of the occupant. But some vehicles may not have received proper OCS calibration during the vehicle manufacturing process, Toyota said.
