Toyota Mirai to Arrive in Hawaii This Month

Hawaii's distributor of Toyota, Lexus, and Subaru vehicles has opened the state's first publicly accessible hydrogen fueling station and later this month will begin leasing the Mirai fuel cell vehicle, Toyota has announced.

Servco Pacific Inc. added the station in Mapunapuna on Oahu at its flagship Toyota dealership at its corporate offices. Servco funded the full cost of the station.

The station can produce up to 20 kilograms of hydrogen per day and can store about 100 kg on-site, which is enough to support 12 fill-ups. A fill-up takes about 5 minutes with the station's high-pressure dispenser.

At the end of July, Servco will begin offering the Mirai on a lease, which will include service and hydrogen fuel after a downpayment. Servco will offer "a limited number" of Mirai sedans.

The Mirai has an EPA-estimated range of 312 miles on a full tank with a combined equivalent fuel economy rating of 66 miles per gallon. Hawaii becomes the second state to offer the Mirai after California.
