Toyota Announces Voluntary Recall to Replace Wiper Switches
The recall affects approximately 10,000 Camry, Avalon and Corolla vehicles, including hybrid models.
Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc. is recalling approximately 10,000 2013-2014 model-year Camry and Camry Hybrid vehicles, 2013 MY Avalon and Avalon Hybrid vehicles, and 2014 MY Corolla vehicles to replace the wiper switch.
During manufacture of the wiper switch assembly in the involved vehicles, certain contacts on the switch terminal could have been manufactured incorrectly, Toyota said. This could lead to a potential short if the wiper is moved from “off” to the “mist” setting. A short can cause the windshield wipers to become inoperative.
Owners of the involved vehicles will be notified by first-class mail to return their vehicles to a Toyota dealer for replacement of the wiper switch.
