Toyota, AkzoNobel Develop Collision Repair Production System

TORRANCE, CA - AkzoNobel Car Refinishes Americas has teamed with Toyota Motor Sales USA to create the Toyota Production System for Collision (TPS-C). The system will be used by Toyota and Lexus Certified Collision Centers, SearchAutoParts.com reported.

This production system for collision will integrate elements of AkzoNobel's methodology and Toyota's existing production system. Early training began back in August at the Toyota Certified Collision Centers National Performance Group Meeting, held in San Antonio.

The program was introduced to about 100 Toyota collision center personnel. There are now 15 pilot locations. Personnel will complete a series of classes and process improvement activities beginning in November.

Eventually, the TPS-C program will deliver training and consulting services to all Toyota and Lexus Certified Collision Centers to ensure uniform collision repair practices.
