Sysco Deploys Video-Based Solution to Reduce Vehicle Accidents

SAN DIEGO - Sysco Corporation has signed on to a 5-year commitment to deploy DriveCam's Driver Risk Management solution in its entire fleet of 9,000 vehicles.
A foodservice distributor that delivers 1.2 billion cases of food and related products to 400,000 customers every year, Sysco participated in two trial programs before selecting the DriveCam solution.
DriveCam's palm-sized, exception-based video event recorder mounts to the windshield behind the rearview mirror and captures sights and sounds inside and outside the vehicle. Hard braking, swerving, collision, etc. cause the recorder to save critical seconds of audio and video footage immediately before and after the triggered event.
Replaying and reviewing the footage helps to identify and improve risky driving behaviors, which can in turn help predict and prevent accidents. Sysco expects to prevent collisions, be protected against faulty claims, and lower operational costs with the deployment of the risk management solution.
"With large fleets like Sysco, industry experience and the ability to scale are critical to minimizing the costs associated with risky driving," said Brandon Nixon, DriveCam CEO.
DriveCam has reduced vehicle damages, workers' compensation, and personal injury costs by more than 50 percent and fuel consumption by up to 10 percent in more than 130,000 commercial and government vehicles, according to the company.
