PHOENIX – SuperShuttle celebrated the addition of its 75th propane-autogas-fueled shuttle on Thursday, Oct. 8 at an event in the Phoenix area called “Shuttling Arizona to a Cleaner Future.” The company has been operating propane autogas vehicles since 2009. Councilmembers Michael Johnson and Jim Waring; Valley of the Sun Clean Cities envoys; and industry representatives from the National Propane Gas Association and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport attended the event.

The event showcased the benefits of propane autogas as a fuel and featured a refueling demonstration and ride and drive. Each van was equipped with a ROUSH CleanTech propane autogas engine fuel system.

ROUSH CleanTech stated that each SuperShuttle propane autogas shuttle will release 175,000 fewer pounds of carbon dioxide than it would have operating on gasoline. SuperShuttle itself will emit 13 million fewer pounds of carbon dioxide over the next five years using these 75 vehicles. In terms of savings, SuperShuttle unit franchisees operating propane-autogas-fueled shuttles are saving an average of $200 per week, or $10,400 per year.
