FRISCO, CO - Builders are making steady progress on Summit County's new $14 million fleet and transit maintenance facility, according to Summit Daily News. The new building is expected to be completed by next fall, replacing an aging facility.

$10.3 million of funding for the new facility came from federal stimulus money, with the county paying the difference. About 70 percent of the facility will be used by the Summit Stage, with the rest reserved for other Summit County vehicles.

Several sustainable energy features are being incorporated in the building, including a 10 kilowatt photovoltaic panel that will generate a small portion of the building's energy needs.

Additionally, the new building features extensive daylighting, with a row of semi-opaque panels along the ridge of the roof to reduce the amount of electric lighting needed inside. Solar walls help create some heat for the building, and waste oil will be burned in a heating furnace, according to the Daily News.
