Subaru Recalls Vehicles for Brake Line Corrosion
The action affects 198,900 Impreza, WRX, STI and Forester vehicles previously recalled in states that use road salts for snow removal efforts.

Subaru of America is recalling 198,900 Impreza, WRX, STI and Forester vehicles in states that use road salts for snow removal because the vehicles may have brake line corrosion, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports.
Salt water splashing on the brake lines through a gap in the fuel tank protector places the vehicles at risk, despite the attempted remedy of a previous safety recall. That recall’s remedy fell short because the repair instructions to dealers were incomplete, NHTSA said.
The recall affects Impreza vehicles in the 2008-2011 model years, WRX and STI vehicles in the 2008-2014 model years, and Forester vehicles in the 2009-2013 model years. The vehicles are in Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia.
Subaru dealers will apply an anti-corrosion wax to the four-way joint connector area of the brake line system, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on Jan. 26.
