Subaru Legacy, Outback Recalled for Steering
The recall covers 48,500 Legacy and Outback cars in the 2016 and 2017 model years.

Subaru of America is recalling 48,500 2016-2017 model-year Legacy and Outback cars because of a potential steering problem, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.
The recall covers vehicles manufactured from Feb. 29 to May 6 of this year. Until the cars have been inspected, owners are advised to not drive them.
“The steering column on the affected vehicles may have been improperly machined, and as a result, turning the steering wheel may have no effect on the direction of the wheels,” NHTSA said on its website.
Subaru dealers will check the lot number on the steering column, and the steering column will be replaced if necessary. There will be no charge for this service.
