The 2004 Conference of Automotive Remarketing (CAR) will take place Jan 21-23 at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas. CAR is the original remarketing conference covering all segments of the remarketing industry. "Our goal remains, as it has since 1996, to provide a complete educational program that the broad industry can support and deliver the networking venue for consignors and their industry suppliers," said Ed Bobit, CEO of Bobit Publishing, which produces the conference. The International Automotive Remarketers Alliance (IARA) announced it will hold a roundtable symposium and all-member meeting on Jan. 21 at Mandalay Bay immediately prior to the start of CAR. Other consignor groups are also expected to schedule meetings to coincide with CAR, Bobit said. He added that an invitation was extended to the National Auto Auction Association (NAAA) for its Zone, Independent, and other committee groups to hold their winter/spring meeting in conjunction with CAR. Mandalay Bay will offer a special room rate of $189 per night for CAR attendees. Approximately 500 leading remarketers attended CAR 2003, which featured a keynote address by John Smith, General Motors' group vice president of vehicle sales, service, and marketing. Other keynoters included Charley Smith, Watson Truck & Supply Inc.'s chairman of the board and vice chairman of the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA), and Michael Linn, executive vice president of the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association (NIADA).
