Samsara Named to Forbes’ Top AI Companies List

Forbes has recognized San Francisco-based Samsara as one of America’s top artificial intelligence (AI) companies by including the organization on the Forbes AI 50 List.
In its third year, Forbes AI 50 List spotlights promising private North American companies using artificial intelligence in ways fundamental to their operations. To be considered, companies must be using machine learning, natural language processing and computer vision.
Samsara was selected, along with 49 others, from several hundred companies that submitted entries to Forbes.
Samsara was founded on the premise that cloud and AI tools can make industrial operations safer, more effective and more sustainable. The advanced AI capabilities within Samsara's Connected Operations Platform allow customers to take a more preventative approach to both road and workplace safety — whether it's distracted driving detection or optimized training, for example.
The company’s platform has proven to be particularly helpful to fleet operators, according to Forbes. It collects information from real-time HD video feeds, sensors and data entry workflows and then applies machine learning to identify areas for improvement. For example, its platform monitors speeding and its dash cameras spot distracted driving and provide real-time driver alerts and coaching advice.
In 2019, distracted driving claimed the lives of 3,142 people and speeding killed 9,378 people in 2018. Samsara’s technology is helping to address these dangerous behaviors and make the nation’s roadways safer.
