LAURINBURG, N.C. --- Drivers now have more options for mounting the RearSight back-up camera system from Rostra Precision Controls Inc., thanks to the company's new five-inch mounting stem. With this stem, the in-vehicle monitor can be mounted to a vehicle's windshield, making it ideal for trucks, vans and vehicles that are not equipped with rearview mirrors. Rostra's RearSight (part #250-8122) features a durable waterproof CCD color image camera, providing the driver with a 150-degree wide-angle view from behind the rear of the truck. In addition, infrared night vision and a microphone on the camera allow the operator to hear and see what's going on behind the truck, which is important for large delivery vehicles and road crews working in loud situations. Inside the cab, a five-inch TFT-LCD color monitor can be installed in less than an hour using the stem mount (professional installation is recommended). The monitor features two audio/video inputs for additional views or use with an aftermarket navigation system. "This product saves fleet owners money by reducing back-up accidents, which in turn reduces downtime and maintains low insurance costs," said Sibyl Ringsdorf, manager of marketing and national accounts for Rostra Precision Controls Inc. "In addition to offering a new mounting option, we're delivering a five-inch color monitor that comes with sound, night vision, a wide-angle view and a three-year warranty, all at an affordable price."
