Chinese ride-hailing group Didi Chuxing and electric vehicle manufacturer BYD plan to test an electric vehicle they jointly designed for ride-hailing, Reuters reports.
China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology granted BYD permission to sell an EV called D1 last month. Citing "a person familliar with the matter," Reuters reports that the D1 is the purpose-built vehicle for ride hailing services developed by the two firms.
The companies aim to deliver the EV to Didi's partners within the year.
