In the past week, snow- and ice-covered roads in the U.S. have led to a number of fatal vehicle crashes. Nine people were killed and 38 others suffered injuries Sunday, Dec. 30, when a driver lost control of a charter bus and it plummeted off Interstate 84 in eastern Oregon, USA Today reported. The winding mountain road was blanketed with ice and snow.
Such tragedies remind us of how dangerous winter conditions can be. Drivers must take special precautions to help compensate for slippery roads and compromised visibility.
